Have you ever wonder what accomplished individuals and well known personalities are from Fairfield? We were excited to find there are professional athletes, an iconic actor, a well known author and a TV talent from our home town!

Since we’re in the midst of baseball season, let’s start with Brad Bergesen. Mr. Bergesen was a starter for the Baltimore Orioles from 2009-2011. He sustained a season ending injury in 2009 after taking a line drive to the shin. Many baseball columnists believe he would have been a Rookie of the Year candidate if he had continued to play that season!

Fairfield is also able to boast another professional athlete that plays much closer to home after a recent trade. Stevie Johnson is now a Wide Receiver for the San Francisco 49ers. While playing for the Buffalo he became the only receiver in Bills history to record three consecutive 1,000 yard receiving seasons. Check out “Stevie Johnson Aims to Add onto 49ers WR Legacy” via 49ers.com

If you’re into great books and movies, we’ve got that covered too. “Wax on, wax off.” We probably don’t need to tell you, but Noriyuki “Pat” Morita (Mr. Miyagi) from the classic Karate Kid movies made that quote famous. Mr. Morita’s life was like a movielike. As a child he spent nearly a decade in a sanitarium for spinal tuberculosis where he learned to walk. When discharged, he went directly to the Gila River internment camp in Arizona where he joined his family until the war was over.

Author and former U.S. Marine Anthony Swofford whose most notable book was transformed into the war movie Jarhead is also from Fairfield. He grew up in a military family and lived on base.

Fairfield has at least one female personality that we were able to track down…Cat Cora. As an American professional chef she has been on many culinary TV shows including: Iron Chef, Master Chef, Top Chef, Around the World in 80 Plates and others.

It’s always fun to see people from your hometown in the limelight. These are the people we were able to find after a quick search. Do you have someone to add that we missed? Feel free to comment and thanks for reading!
