Homeownership is full of to-dos. Sometimes it seems like the list is never ending, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get creative. Spring is here and if you feel like sprucing things up around the house, we’ve got some great tips and tricks to share!

Inside the Home:

Painting can often be a love-hate relationship. Rooms can be rejuvenated with a fresh coat of paint, but no one said doing it was fun. Once you’ve finished think about putting a small amount of paint in a baby food jar to keep in the room for quick touch-ups!

Do you ever feel like you look in the cupboard and can’t seem to find what you’re looking for without digging around? Imagine having everything neatly laid out infront of you in plain view. Solution – use a clear hanging shoe organizer. We wish we’d thought of this one sooner!

Any pet owner can tell you that vacuuming floors and/or furniture is part of their routine to maintain shed hair. Whether it’s stuck in patches on carpet or strewn across sofas and chairs…hair belongs on the body or in the trash. Use a squeegee on fabric to remove pet hair!

Rearranging rooms means sometimes having to disassemble furniture. Ever get stuck with a stripped screw? One way to try and get things moving is to use a rubber band in between the head of the screw driver and the stuck screw. The rubber helps fill the space in the head of the screw and gives extra grip!

Electrical wires always seem to end up in boxes, bags or storage containers hidden away and tangled up in knots. An easy and reusable way to keep you organized is to take plastic clothes hangers and turn them into cord keepers!

If you’ve ever ordered take-out or delivery sushi, Thai or Chinese food, you might have some chopsticks laying around your kitchen drawers. Put them to use by using them as plant stakes for your indoor plants!

Outside the Home:

Ever been locked out? It’s no fun! Sure you can give a neighbor a key or try hiding a spare in one of those fake looking rocks, but an easy way to hide your key is to use an old pill bottle, glue a pinecone or natural outdoor item to the top and bury it in a convenient and easy to remember place!

Landscaping is hard work, but having beautiful plants that are easy to maintain just got a little easier. By burying cheap plastic pots in the ground where you want the plants to be located you can then change potted plants in and out easily with the seasons.
